Billing, briefly
Is it really a free trial?
Yes — 7 days, all the features, all the models, but limited credits. Otherwise we'd go bankrupt in about a week. And we took a course that explained that that's bad for business.
Can I switch plans?
Easily. Upgrade or downgrade whenever. If you've already paid for a plan, the payment won't take effect until the next billing period, but the benefits of the plan will kick in immediately.
Do Mac and iPhone cost extra?
Who do you think we are? Savages? No of course not. You don't both for free and use them with a subscription. Both will be regularly updated for your benefit and those updates are free as well. As long as you pay for a subscription ;)
What is a credit?
This one is a bit hard to explain, but all LLMs run on tokens that each cost for input and output. A token is simply a character combination of words you type. A Salut 'credit' is a certain amount of tokens, but since not all LLMs cost the same, the relationship between a 'credit' and a 'token' isn't 1-to-1. We're mainly making sure you have insight into how many credits you use and we don't lose money on it.
How does billing work?
Everything is currently done through in-app purchases through the AppStore. Any bill and payment management is done through there. Of course, feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it, but most answers will result in us referring you to Apple.
What about teams?
For Teams there will be a separate invoicing capability, but that's different from regular consumers. Contact us if you're interested.
